July 29, 2005A little bit of this, a little bit of that
So many random things have gone on in the past few weeks that I haven't blogged about. I guess I'll work chronologically: *Equity Line *Enduro race Overall the car did well. Still overheating a little, and now it needs some cosmetic repairs to the right front, but it will run again!
The reception was held in this little bed & breakfast (The Inn at Hans Meadow) right around the corner from where I used to work in Christiansburg. All those days driving by, I never even knew it was there. The majority of the evening's activites were held outside either in the gardens (bar) or under the white tents (dinner & dancing). The entire setting was beautiful, with simple decorations in pink & green with an emphasis on thie monogram/initials. We had a great time catching up with Maggie & Quentin, Bridget & Kevan and even Krista & Jon were there! < pics > *Creations site Posted by Olivia at 2:16 PM | Comments (1) August 9, 2004Bridget & Kevan's Wedding
Ok, so I'm a little behind. I don't know what my problem is. July 17 was Bridget and Kevan's wedding, in Asheville, NC. For anyone who doesn't know, Bridget was one of my roommates from college. Since the wedding was late afternoon/early evening, Jeff and I got up early Saturday and headed out. We made it with enough time to check into out hotel, change clothes, get lost, and finally find our way there. Homewood was their location of choice and it was a perfect place for a wedding. The building itself, where the reception was located, is a restored 1920's house. Across the street the ceremony was help in the gardens; a georgeous area nestled in the trees, with a stone stairway to the bottom. Despite the rain that started almost immediately, the processional went on as planned. The bridal party made their way down the steps after the groomsmen had taken their place. Midway through it looked as though the rain would stop, but then it came backa agin, harder than before. Needless to say, we were soaked by the time it was over. Bridget's dad was a co-officiant with an former teacher of Kevan's. I bet that was neat being able to marry his own daughter. Afterwards, all the guests mingled under a tent for the 'cocktail hour' while pictures were being taken. Luckily the reception itself was inside. We got to hang out with the rest of the 200B ladies and their significant others. Speaking of which, congratulations to Sara and Eric, engaged on July 4th! Sunday, Bridget & Kevan had everyone come to their house for a farewell breakfast. There was a ton of food and a ton of people, but with the long drive ahead of us, we got on the road before noon. Overall, I think we had a pretty good time; I don't see any of this crowd very much, even though Maggie lives right here in town. I guess we just move in different circles now. It takes a special event to get us all together now. Good thing there's still 2 weddings to go. Posted by Olivia at 11:31 AM | Comments (1) August 19, 2003Party Schools

What an exhausting weekend. We had a great time in Radford, but it felt so weird to be back. Jeff & I hadn't been since graduation last spring. It's weird to go somewhere you spent 4 years of your life in, but not feel like you really belong anymore. After Jeff & I checked into the hotel (the new Comfort Inn, just opened on Tuesday, by the interstate), we headed straight to BT's, a favorite hangout. By then it was about 11pm, so it was just starting to get crowded. Luckily, they have a non smoking section upstairs where we always sit. (And of course that's never crowded, who wants to be that far away from the bar!) Whim staffers, new & old, were already there, so after some introductions we got to relax a little. They finally kicked us out at 2, so we all parted ways. Jeff, Brian & I headed over to 706 to meet up with the current staff, and to check out the apartment (this is where the guys lived our last year). Well, there aren't really even words to describe the place. The Christmas lights, decorations (liberated from various Radford stores), and bottles on the cabinets put there by Jeff, Brian, Mike & Roger, were all still there. Amazing. The only thing I can say is that there's no way I would live there! (sorry guys) :) Jeff & I finally got back to the hotel and crashed around 3:30. Up again at 10 to meet everyone in Heth at 11. Since there were some different people there we had introductions again, then headed to Macados for lunch. Trying to eat with 25-30 people is pretty crazy. But our waiter was awesome, we had our food quicker than I ever expected. The plan for Saturday was just to hang out and get to know each other, so back over to Heth we went, to one of the meeting rooms. Most of us shared what we're doing now and how Whim influenced that. Quad Fest was also going on outside, so before we all got organized in Heth, Lauren & I walked around campus. I was sad to realize that there wasn't anyone there I knew. But I guess after 2 years, you can't expect to know that many people. Well, unless you're Lauren, and know everyone! :) After the show and tell session, we headed back to BT's. And there we stayed until about 12:30. (This is 6 hours I'm talking about) Pretty much everyone else left after the "after dinner drink," so once again, Jeff, Brian & I walked over to 706 to say goodbye to everyone. Jeff & I got back to the hotel about 3, walked up the flight of stairs to our floor, stuck the key card in the door, and got a red light. Great. Locked out. By that time, we were so tired that it was just amusing. Back downstairs to the front desk. They rekeyed our cards and we were able to get in. Remember, this hotel only opened on Tuesday. The pool wasn't open, and there were only 2 tv channels, so we ended up getting a much lower rate. Fine by me! Now if they would have left us check out a little later! Since we had to be out by 11, we stopped by the Best Western to see Mike & Lauren and make breakfast plans. Well, breakfast turned into lunch since they had to see some people first. But it gave Jeff & I a chance to go to the bookstore, walk around campus, and to drive around town taking pictures. Not much has changed. Besides the big gaudy sign at the new entrance to campus, and Adams street finally being partially closed off, there's nothing new. Oh yeh, and they tore down the Brown building. It was always a little scary to go into, so it's probably for the best! So here I sit at work, Monday morning, so tired I can barely think straight, much less type correctly, trying to get enough energy to get some work done. But it was a good weekend. I met a lot of people, ate a lot of good food, and did a lot of reminiscing. Sometimes I can hardly believe that it's been (almost)2 years since we graduated, and 6 since we finished high school.
