March 4, 2005Git 'er done!

Ever have those days, or weeks, where you just get a lot of stuff done? That's been most of this week for me.

Saturday we drove all over Richmond to check the model homes in several Ryan neighborhoods to see which floorplan we liked the best. Look for a later entry on that.

Sunday, Jeff and I decided to bite the bullet and finally go clothes shopping since we both desperately need pants. He definitely came out the winner with 3 pairs to my 1. Anyone know where I can find pants that aren't meant for sticks?

Afterwards we met with the Ryan Sales rep for the neighborhood we've been thinking about. She gave us a lot to talk over after that.

I took full advantage of our snow day Monday and got up at the usual time and ran several errands all before noon: Social Security Office, DMV, Bank (yes, I finally got my name changed), SunCom (new phone), Dry cleaners (I was tired of the dirty wedding dress sitting in my closet; I hope it comes clean!), Ukrops.

Tuesday, since Jeff had a meeting after work, I decided to try to get some more clothes shopping in. Too bad I came away empty handed again. When did shopping for clothes stop being fun? I did however find a great deal at Pier 1 on some orange flowers!

Wednesday, I took a long lunch to finally get my hair cut and 'frosted,' as my coworkers like to call it. It was nice to get out of the office for so long, too bad I had to go back!

Thursday morning a roofer guy from the Community Group came to fix our leaky roof. The rain we're supposed to get this weekend will tell us whether or not it's really fixed; we'll see.

Oh-if anyone still has the OC Tivoed, taped whatever, can we borrow it?? I hate when they change things around!! Grr

And tonight we have a meeting with a guy at NVR Mortgage to talk about mortgage options.

Busy, busy, busy. And I'm sure it won't stop there. Chris & Karen move in Sunday and I sure hope it's not still raining then!

Work has been steadily busy for the past couple of weeks. I got a new computer yesterday and have been dealing with setting everything the way I like it and re-retrieving files that became corrupt during the transfer. It's been a major pain in the ass and I haven't gotten any work done yet today. But hopefully it'll all work out ok; the machine seems a little faster than my old one, which is always good!

March 22, 2005Blogging is boring

Well, I think I've decided that I'm just bored with blogging. As much as I like reading other blogs, I just can't seem to motivate myself to write for my own. It's not like I haven't been doing anything, or don't have anything to say. Maybe one day I'll pick it back up.

March 28, 2005Home Improvements

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. The blog bug is back! Or maybe that's just the cold bug talking. Hmm.. either way, I have returned, even if only temporarily, to share with you our latest home adventure!

This past weekend started out with a little 12 hour nap. Ok, ok, so I can't really call it a nap, but tht's what it started out to be! Fighting a losing battle with the cold bug can really wipe a person out, so I (dragging Jeff along) came home Friday and crashed. And didn't get back up until 8am Saturday morning. I have no idea how we were both able to sleep for so long. I guess we must have really needed it though!

Since we had slept through dinner, we both woke up really hungry, so we made an early morning trip to IHOP for some much needed fuel. Jeff used his afterwards playing video games while I made good use of my new software that lets me inventory books, movies, and video games.

I can use an iSight to scan into the Delicious Library database, items with barcodes. I've already done books, DVDS and games, now I'm working on CDs. Unfortunately, a lot either don't have barcodes or are unreadable, so I have to manually enter them. Even so, it's still a really, really cool product!!

The rest of the afternoon was spent running errands and checking out some more neighborhoods. One of our stops was Lowes where we happened to find a faucet we both really liked. It must be fairly new, because we've looked at them many time before, and this one was definitely not there. And yes, even though we are looking at maybe buying a new home sometime in the future, we decided that since we have no idea when that might be, we might as well go ahead and continue to make improvements to this one. So we bought the faucet. Two of them.

New faucet! Double trouble

Sunday, Jeff interuppted my afternoon nap so we could install the new fixtures. Overall, it wasn't as hard as either one of use thought it would be. Maybe a little uncomfortable crawling around in the cabinets, but I left that part to Jeff. ;) I think we're both happy with our choice; they are soo much beter than the old ones! Even Gizmo decided he could drink from them, therefore giving his stamp of approval.
