June 4, 2004Smells like funk!

Walking up to the house after work yesterday I noticed an odd, almost sewer-like smell. Not immediately noticing the source, I continued on. When Jeff got home a few hours later, we went back out for dinner and he commented on the smell too, which was just as bad as before.

I decided to check on the orange fish egg-like things we'd seen a few weeks ago (which I found out today, is some form of mold), to see if that was making the smell. Instead, I found a black snake hiding in the plants by the house.

We're not sure how long he'd been there, if he died there or was maybe dropped by a bird. Either way, it stunk! Jeff used a yardstick to scoop it up to carry it back by the woods. PeeeeEwwwww!!

I don't remember seeing it yesterday morning, so I'm thinking it 'appeared' sometime during the day. That was so weird; I just walked back up to the house, leaned over the mulch and bushes and was like, 'Oh, there's a snake.' It never occurred to me that, OH, there's a SNAKE near my house!' I didn't jump worry that it was gonna come get me. Maybe it was just so obviously not living or something.

Anyways, there's my tale for the day. Oh, and it was about 3-3.5 feet long.

June 8, 2004It only hurts when I breathe

For the last 4 or 5 days I've had a headache that just won't quit. Some hours are better than others, but today was definitely the worst. I can't think of anything that changed recently, no major stressors or change in eating habits, I can't figure out what's causing this constant pain. Besides a possible lack of sleep, does anyone have any ideas?

June 10, 2004Attack of the bridezilla!

I watched this new show on WE Wednesday night called Bridezillas. They follow 8 New York brides-to-be in the last few weeks leading up to their weddings.

Normal (as normal as New Yorkers can be;) ), women become crazed bridezillas as they completely lose all sense of reality for all things regarding their weddings. One girl took her already enormous flower budget ($5000) and doubled it just to ensure the 25 centerpiece orchids were absolutely perfect.

Another received an $8000 diamond necklace from her fiance as a wedding gift, just because she 'fell in love' with it. And one more is spending $100,000 on her dream wedding.

Some of this stuff is just so outrageous! You gotta watch to believe it!

June 25, 2004Coming to a close

Holy geez. What a day. For you other accounting-types out there, you know what I'm talking about. That's right, fiscal year close. Man, I'm am wiped out. I have been running my ass off today.

This year the College has an excess of money and all we've been doing the last few weeks is spend, spend, spend. Why they couldn't have started sooner, I don't know. So here I am today calling all sorts of people trying to see what we've received, and when we can get an invoice. Monday is pretty much the last day we can process stuff, so we really wanted to get it all in today.

Since I don't have much desk space I started laying it all out on the floor with little notes on each one. I think I was only able to fully complete about 25% of what I have.

But anyways, point is, it's been a long, hard day, and it's almost over. At least now it's after 5 and most people/vendors have gone home, so I can't do much else. But next Monday and Tuesday will probably be just as busy. I sure hope this is a relaxing weekend cause I need it!

June 28, 2004Can I have some of that cash?

Found out today that no matter how much we can spend (at work) in the next couple of days it won't really matter. Why, you may ask? Because we have an excess of $1,000,000.00 to spend. That's right, one..million..dollars. And did we find this out 6 months ago? 2 weeks ago? Last week? Nope, today. I just don't get it. It's so frustrating. I wish I could take some of that to pay for the wedding. :)

Speaking of wedding, (did you like that segue?) as many of you know from checking out JeffandOlivia.info, I was able to find a dress last weekend. Jennifer, Lauren, & Kelly B joined me for a day of dress shopping. Who would have guessed it would end up being the next to last one I tried on? We'd pretty much narrowed it down to 3 at David's Bridal, but decided to keep looking. And I'm glad we did! The one I ended up getting had all the things I liked from the 3 at DB, plus it fit well enough to not need alterations! And while it was a bit more expensive than the other 3, I think not having to pay for alterations makes up for it.

And the girls decided on Bridesmaid dresses too. Since I'm not having them wear the same style, just the same color, we should be able to buy right off the rack and not worry about having to order. That's on the list for this week. So much to do, so little time...

After all that shopping and lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, we rewarded (if you can call paying $8.25/ea a reward) ourselves by going to see The Stepford Wives. Weird. Very weird. Some frosty beverages at O'Charlie's rounded out the evening.
