April 15, 2004Still alive & kickin'

Yup, I'm still here. Haven't fallen off the edge of the planet yet. That would require actually going somewhere first. And I haven't done that. :)

I wish I could say I've been really busy with all sorts of cool stuff, but that just ain't happenin'. Last Friday, we watched the last (3rd) Matrix movie at Brian's. I had seen the second one way back wehn, but had been thoroughly confused. But with Chris' indepth explaination earlier in the day, I was ready to tackle number three. And by George, I think I got it! Of course, there were still some unanswered questions, but it's always like that with those types of movies.

The rest of the weekend was very uneventful. I literally did nothing on Saturday. I watched some tv, took a nap, watched some more tv. Jeff and I did make some tacos Saturday night, so that was a nice break from doing nothing. And by Sunday night, we had to get out of the house so we met up with Brian & Chris for some yummy Tara Thai dining. I have no idea what the dish I had was called, I just went on a recommendation from our waiter. Something with broccoli and tofu. It was good.

Let's see....work has been uneventful as well. Although yesterday I was kickin' ass and gettin' things done. After slacking for too long I decided it was time to get some real work done. So I did. And now I feel better. But I bet if my office was above 60 degrees (that's what it feels like), I would be inclined to do more work. So uncomfortable, I wish I had my coat today. Grr.

Let's see, what else? Hmm....well, I think that's about it for now. Enjoy the nice sunshine today and Don't Get Eliminated!!

April 15, 2004Pee Wee

Anybody watch Pee Wee Herman when they were kids? I know I saw a few episodes, but I can't say I was a dedicated fan. And then there's the movie. That, I know I never saw. But for some reason, in the last year, I've probably seen the whole movie, just in parts. And some of this was Friday night, after watching The Matrix. Don't ask why, it was just random.

But back to the movie. Does anybody see anything wrong with a grown man so upset over losing a bike? And what's up with the big guy who still lives at home? And had a pool for a bathtub? With toys? That's just wack.

And the breakfast thing? Does anyone eat cereal on their pancakes? Excuse me, does anyone pour cereal on their pancakes, eat one bite and leave the rest? Do I even need to get into the rest of the movie?

Ok, ok, it's just a movie, I know, it's not supposed to be real. But man.....that's wack!

April 15, 2004My Pet peeves

I've been inspired by Lauren's blog about pet peeves and decided to create my own.

Completely random order, I just typed as I thought of them.

1. Muffins that stick to the little paper cups
2. Staticy radio stations
3. People who leave their blinker on
4. Censored music. If I'm offended, I just won't listen to it, but I don't want the beeps!
5. The word 'noob'
6. Frozen drinks that come thin as water. I said FROZEN people!
7. Having to wear socks cause my office is too cold
8. My office being cold ALL the time!
9. Couples intials on license plates (Sorry to completely copy that one Lauren, but it's a good one).
10. The use of 'U,' 'B4,' 'Thx,' and all those other 'shortcuts' people love to use
11. People who don't use the turn lanes
12. Small talk.
13. Small talk about the weather
14. That I don't know how to type properly
15. When people open a pack of paper, take half, then leave the still in the paper wrapper. Just take it all!!
16. Pants that shrink up
17. Clothes that can't be dried
18. Skinny people who think they're fat
19. Post Office hours
20. SPAM!!!
21. Those who don't recycle
22. Dandruff
23. Wearing shoes while driving
24. People who don't use the visors in cars, but still complain about sun being in their eyes. Duh!
25. Sucky cell phone reception
26. Having to wear a belt
27. Tapered pants (too close to tight-rolled perhaps?)
28. Crumbs in butter, jelly, etc
29. Staticy hair
30. Sound effects in email & instant message programs

April 19, 2004A completely relaxing weekend

This weekend made a mock start Thursday night when we all gathered for a rare, during the week meal at Legends. FYI, the appetizer nachos are HUGE! After stuffing ourselves silly it was off to Chris' to enjoy some reality tv with Survivor and The Apprentice. It was a nice change to do something during the week instead of waiting for Friday or Saturday. Of course I temporarily forgot it was Thursday and was very disappointed to remember I had to go to work the next day. :(

Saturday Jeff and I headed to Bridgewater to for Mrs P's birthday. Jennifer had the weekend off so she joined us as well. After an incident with the a koosh raquet, we spent some time with the grandparents before refueling at dinner. Overall it was a great day. The weather was beautiful and although we stayed later than probably planned, it was a good visit.

Sunday morning we just kinda lounged around watching tv and washing the truck until it was time to head to Mike & Lauren's for a cookout. I can't wait until we get some patio furniture. It was a perfect day/night to be chillin' outside. Thanks again for having us over!!

April 19, 2004A thief among us?

And now it's Monday. *yawn* Back to work. *yawn* Back to having stuff stolen. *yawn* Oh, I haven't mentioned that? Yeh, someone has been stealing stuff in our building. A lady's wallet was taken a few weeks ago. Someone found it in the parking lot later on, empty of cash of course. And today, as I came in, another lady was talking to the security guards. Apparently, some stuff had been taken from her purse this morning.

We're not sure if it's an inside job or not. There are no security guards in the building all the time and no 'checkpoints' to get inside. All the doors are open to everyone. We've all (well, many have) started locking up our personal stuff in whatever lockable cabinets we have available. It really sucks having to deal with it, but it would be worse to deal with stolen credit cards and things. I hope someone gets caught. Soon.

April 20, 2004Now what?

I'm bored.
That's not to say I don't have anything to do.
Cause I do.
But I'm bored with it.
Pleh.

April 22, 2004An early day

A staff meeting this morning has me getting up at 7 instead of the usual 8:15, 8:30. For some reason I thought it would take me at least an hour to get ready. So I got up at 7, to leave at 8, to be there at 8:15.

Well, all went as planned, I got up and got ready. In 30 minutes. What? Yeh, I know. I didn't know what to do with myself. So I washed dishes and cleaned up the kitchen.

I guess that's just one less thing to do when I get home. Which, by the way, I get to leave at 5 today. Yay!!

I really should make a point of getting to work earlier. But I sure do love my morning sleep. :)

April 26, 2004Also in handheld hell

Seems Jeff is not the only one having handheld problems. I dropped mine on Sunday, and even though the cover was on, it must have hit just right because the cover flew off and the screen cracked. But everything seemed to be working fine.

Until today.

I just turned it on, and it appeared to be locked up. So I hit the little reset button and it came back on. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work right. I can push the buttons and it changes to the different functions, but I can't do anything that requires the stylus on the screen. *sigh* Good thing I synched right after I dropped it.

Guess that's just a perfect end to a crappy day. :(

April 28, 2004Car Fire Engulfs Building, College Closed

Well, ok, not really. I'm still here. But did I get your attention? :)

The car fire part is true however. I'm just glad it wasn't mine! A car that was parked behind our building, next to the Warehouse caught fire about 15-20 minutes ago. Still don't know the cause, but there were actual flames coming from the engine region. I, being on the opposite side of the building, seemed to be the last to know, so by the time I got to the window, it looked like the Warehouse was on fire with all the smoke coming out.

But a firetruck was already there and they put it out quickly and everything is back to normal for the rest of us.

Whew! Too much excitment! I must go home. ;)
