July 2, 2003Jet lagged and still on vacation (in my mind)
I'm so lucky this is a slow work week for us. I haven't felt like doing ANYTHING. And Monday, that's pretty much what I did. Caught up on blog reading and writing, that's what I spent the majority of my day on. The past 2 days have just been clean up. Going through everything that was done while I was gone and fixing stuff the way I like it. It's time to box up old files and start the new ones. Don't you just love starting fresh? new files, new labels, new paper. And that old, dusty stuff you've been messing with can finally be moved elsewhere. Ok, I'm weird. Monday night Jeff and I headed to Midlothian to drop my ring off to be resized. He went to Jared! (Sorry, couldn't resist. Again. :) ) And I spent an hour in traffic yesterday going back to pick it up. Boy am I glad I don't live down there! Stop and go. Stop and go. I really don't have anything else to say except that I'm very tired and keep falling asleep at like 9pm. When will the madness end?? Ahhh...I love long weekends. So much time to get things done and to do nothing. And I did some of both this weekend. It all started Thursday night when we met up with Chris and Paul for some eats and fun activities.
Dinner at Strawberry Street cafe was excellent. Thanks to Chris for suggesting it. We'll definitely have to go back. After dinner we bored them both with way too many pictures from Hawaii. (Sorry guys!) At some point we'll pick out the best ones to show off, but we haven't had time to do that yet. Paul and Chris entertained us with some tunes and then we dove into Chris' collection of games.
Wow. He's got some oldies! Perfection, Superfection, Run Yourself Ragged, Uncle Wiggily, and Oh What A Mountain. Ok, who's heard of all of those? :) That was pretty fun. Posted by Olivia at 11:59 PM | Comments (1) Find me in: Richmond Geeks July 4, 2003Coming out of the closet
Friday started our trend of sleeping until 12:30. When we finally did decide to get up we had a very productive day. Jeff ran out to exchange his oil filters and pick up some wood from Lowe's. After he changed his oil we got started on the shed. There's a lot of vertical space that wasn't being utilized so we put shelves in, one on either side of the door. It wasn't as complicated as we were expecting so it all got finished and cleaned up before it got dark. That gave us just enough time to get cleaned up and make it up to Kings Dominion by 9:30 for the fireworks at 10. Jeff's truck has proven to be very useful this weekend. We set up the camp chairs in the back to watch the fireworks and then sat back there to eat a late Taco Bell dinner afterwards. (Stupid dining room closes at 11. Hmp.) A midnight Wal Mart run followed. Posted by Olivia at 11:59 PM | Comments (0) Find me in: Home Life July 5, 2003Water, water everywhere
Saturday was our lazy day. Jeff played video games and I have no idea what I did. Must not have been exciting. Eventually we made our way down to Maggie's for dinner. We've both been really bad about talking and getting together so when I stopped by Creations last week to tell her about the engagement, she invited us over for dinner. Sara and Eric were in town too; we hadn't seen either of them in a really long time so it was nice to catch up. After a delicious dinner we talked wedding stuff and played a little Channel Surfing. Before we knew it it was after midnight and we were all tired. Jeff and I got home about 1; he went straight to bed with a bad headache. At this point I need to thank Brian for calling Saturday night and leaving a message. Had the answering machine not been flashing I never would have walked across the kitchen and discovered the lake that had formed while we were gone. I quickly grabbed some towels and started analyzing the situation. By the time Jeff came down I still hadn't figured out were it came from. The Jeff stepped into the living room. The carpet in the doorway was soaking wet. A foot and a half into the living room and all the way to the wall under the chair. The fridge had leaked from somewhere.
We still haven't figured out where the water came from. At this point I can only assume it was the drip pan. None of the hoses or connections are leaking and thankfully it hasn't happened again. I'm just glad we had lots of extra towels!! Even now the carpet it still wet. Grr. So another late night resulted in another 12:30 rising. Eventually we called Brian and made plans to meet at IKEA. We all ended up getting stuck in traffic and ironically enough arrived within minutes of each other. Forgetting that it was a holiday weekend, we got stuck in all that traffic. A trip that should have taken and hour or so ended up being two and a half hours. And that was with taking Route 1 up to Fredericksburg. Oh well. We had a few hours to catch up with Brian and hear a little about his weekend. I'm really proud of you for continuing with the running like you have been. That takes real dedication and determination. :)
Jeff and I got lucky and found several items we had been looking for. Ever since my parents took the bedroom furniture that was in our guest room I've been wanting to furnish it with pieces that would be useful for my crafting supplies. Of course what we ended up with was not the original plan, but I think it'll work. We found a new table for our dining room and moved the old one upstairs for me to use. Oh, and did I mention we went and ordered the sofa and chair we had seen a few months ago? Well, we did. Unfortunately, it won't be available until October. Supposedly it's assembled in Italy, hence the shipping delay. And ironically, it's the same furniture that Maggie and Quentin also purchased. Out of all the sofas in Richmond, who would have guessed we'd pick the same one? In the same color? Weird.. I'm so excited about finally be able to work on the house like we've been wanting to. But, as Jeff mentioned tonight, we better stop buying things like furniture if we expect to pay for a wedding soon. Hmm...furniture, wedding, furniture, wedding...I just don't know ;) Posted by Olivia at 11:59 PM | Comments (4) Find me in: Home Life , Richmond Geeks July 8, 2003Test

Well folks, looks like MT is up and running!! This whole process sure has taken a long time, but I guess that's what happens when you're busy. Commenting is ok, I fixed the litle flub from earlier. (It was really an importing thing, not a comment problem). But anywayz. Oh yeh--does not having a divider between days confuse people? Is it too much text with no break? Let me know what you think. A great big thank you to Jeff for helping me set up my MT stuff the other day. I don't believe I gave him proper credit, I'm very sorry. Posted by Olivia at 5:21 PM | Comments (0) Find me in: Web Geekiness July 14, 2003Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Mondays really suck sometimes... Posted by Olivia at 11:36 AM | Comments (6) Find me in: Working Girl Blues July 16, 2003And then it all stops
How can work get so busy and then everything just stops? Oh sure, there are still plenty of random things on my desk that need taking care of, but the majority of the big tems are gone. And now I'm sitting here wondering what to do next. Hmm... Guess this means I actually have to tackle those 'I'll just put those aside for now' invoices that I really hate to deal with. Yuck. A very Happy Birthday to Mr P today! Posted by Olivia at 1:08 PM | Comments (0) Find me in: Family Fun July 16, 2003Passion for purple
Ever since I can remember, I've always considered purple to be my favorite color. But the funny thing is, I've never decorated anything in purple. Yes, I did write an essay in middle school on "My Dream Room" which featured pink and purple polka-dotted walls, but I don't think that's really my style anymore. :) Instead, I'm using the blank canvas of our extra bedroom to bring some purple into the house. Since my parents took the furniture I have no style limitations or color restrictions. The curtains can easily be changed and I have a denim comforter that will go with anything. So tonight I'm off to Lowes in search of the perfect paint color. If this works out maybe we'll paint downstairs next! (Not purple of course!) "Clearing the Room" When Jeff got home we ran over to Lowe's where I proceeded to be baffled by all the shades of purple. Sure, I knew it was going to happen, but I had a very clear picture of the perfect shade I wanted. But it's so hard to tell what it's really going to look like when all you have to go on is a little 1x2 inch paper. Luckily, Lowe's just happens to have little postcard-like pictures of rooms showing different paints. And on the back? The paint color! Woo Hoo! I was in luck! A picture of a bathroom had the exact color I was looking for! Sold! By the time we got home it was almost 8 so I ate some dinner, watched a little "I Love the 80's 1988" (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!) and then got to work. Prep Work "The Reveal" Time to work I should get the bookcase painted and up this weekend so the room can be put back together. Guess I need to find some new curtains now. It looks good so far. There haven't been too many places I've had to go over again; I put it on pretty thick. In fact, I used almost a gallon of paint. Maybe tonight I can get the furniture moved back in; I'm tired of having all that stuff in my bedroom. Posted by Olivia at 11:29 AM | Comments (3) Find me in: Home Life July 18, 2003Pardon my mess
Pardon any strange things you may see for the next hour. I'm playing with my site and of course have to test it live. That's just the way I work. That's why, right now, as I'm typing this, all the font on my fron page is green. Whoops! Posted by Olivia at 4:45 PM | Comments (0) Find me in: Web Geekiness July 22, 2003Weekend Warriors
This weekend flew by so fast that had I not accomplished so much I'd wonder if we even had one. When I got home Friday I started pulling the tape and realized that I had done a horrible job with the ceiling. So up I went armed with purple and off-white paint to do some major touch ups. (I just didn't get the tape straight enough so there was a wavy line all around the top.) I think I fixed the worst of it; if anyone sees anything, DON'T mention it!. heheheh Eventually I got around to sanding the new bookcase. Turns out it's some sort of weird laminate/wood combination. In fact, I have no idea what it's made of. But I was able to lightly sand it enough for the paint to stick. Saturday I started painting. Jeff calls it battleship gray, but it almost matches the carpet, so I don't care. I figured a neutral color would be best in case I ever wanted to repaint the room. It seemed to take forever. I did it all inside hoping it would dry faster without the humidity. And I think it did, there were just so many pieces, front and back, to do. By Sunday we were able to put it together and move the rest of the room back in. I spent Sunday afternoon/night arraning and rearranging stuff. I got these really cool canvas baskets from Bed, Bath and Beyond for all my craft supplies. I'm going to have to get more, but this is a good start. I also bought from bright decorative items from Pier 1 and World Market. The next major purchase for that room will be a new bed. Haven't decided what to get and since we don't have that many guests it's not a high priority right now. But eventually we won't have a sofa bed and may need extra sleeping space. I now remember why I never wear skirts to work. My toes are like ice cubes, my legs like icicles. Want to go home and snuggle under a nice warm blanket. Posted by Olivia at 3:51 PM | Comments (2) Find me in: Weather Words July 23, 2003Which Hello Kitty are you?

I know I should blog more, but truthfully, I have nothing to say. I have been so lazy this week. I go to work, come home, watch tv, and go to bed. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I did something different yesterday though and met up with Lauren for lunch. Since she was working in the West End this week we were close enough to meet up at Jersey Mike's for some much needed sustenance. Don't forget, it's the last day for the Quizno's free sub deal. I would link to the coupon, but I think CitySearch has already taken it down. Mmm..toasty. :) Posted by Olivia at 2:29 PM | Comments (1) Find me in: Chit Chat
