March 1, 2002Busy week!!
If you can't tell, this has been a fairly busy work week for me. Today I had to fill in at the cashier's office on the campus. I was REALLY not looking forward to that. It's one thing to deal with the students over the phone, but another to see them face to face. Thankfully it turned out ok. Being Friday, and the last day before Spring Break, there weren't too many people around. But I definitely don't want to have to do it again! Looks like Brian and Paul are coming down on Saturday to be with us to celebrate Lauren's birthday. I've heard we're going to a Japanese restaurant. Rice, yum!! I don't think I have too much else to share right now. Since I doubt I'll blog any over the weekend (as I hardly ever do), I'll be back Monday!! For now, I leave you with a Cathy comic. :) Have a great weekend everybody!!

Agh!! What a Monday! This has been (and still is) one of the busiest days I've had in a while. Between making up work from Friday when I was at the campus, and having my boss get all these stupid refunds together, I've been stuck in refund hell all day long. To clarify: I process refunds to students who have dropped classes for one reason or another. And with it now being March, they're going to start wondering where their money is. So I have to get my ass in gear and get these done. This in turn means I will be keying (data entry basically), for a long time to finish it all up. Yay me! I really don't mind it, just in smaller doses! Oh man, I just passed the phone off to my boss who's now having to deal with this terribly irate student. And all for $18.47!! I won't go into the gory details of it. I wish I had more time to talk about this weekend, but I need to get back to work. :( All I can say is I had a great time! And happy day-late birthday to my grandmother and Lauren! Posted by Olivia at 4:48 PM | Comments (2) Find me in: Working Girl Blues March 6, 2002A Shiney Sink
Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately. I just haven't had much to say. I go to work, I come home. That's pretty much it. Since I still don't have my car (they're painting it, yay!), I can't really go anywhere on a whim. Oh well. I guess it's kinda sad when the highlight of your day is discovering that baking soda and rubbing alcohol will make a stainless steel sink shine like new. :) Posted by Olivia at 10:39 AM | Comments (1) Find me in: Chit Chat March 7, 2002"Which _ are you?" marathon
It's Thursday, it's Thursday!! *happy dance* Why am I happy? Well, Thursday means it's that much closer to Friday! Yay! I spent some time this morning searching google for more "What _ are you?" quiz thingies. After 86 pages of search results I found some interesting enough to share with you all. But don't worry, they won't all come today! The one I was really hoping to share, "Which Office Space Character Are you?" was no longer active, but people were still linking to it; made for a very frustrating search. I thought that would be perfect for most of you out there. :) But alas, it was gone. So today, instead, I present you with this:
You are the classic yellow squeeky toy. Disclaimer: I take no responsiblility for the questions asked in these quizes, I am merely sharing the entertainment. :) I also am not responsible for the banner ads which may pop up. There's nothing like waking up naturally, when your body wants you too, not when an alarm says you have too. I love having weekends with no plans, or at least those that dont require rushing to go somewhere or do something. Somtimes you just need a little time to do things like grocery shopping. Food is a necessary element in life I'm afraid. :) Now that we know we're getting the house, I can't help but want to plan for it, go shopping for new things. As many times as I moved, I have a pretty good idea of things I'll want to buy to start fresh with. (Just random things like a new dish drainer, nothing major) But Jeff thinks were should wait. I say, why wait and spend all the money in the end, buy stuff over time and when September rolls around, we'll be ready to go! I can't wait until they get the demo up and we can see exactly what ours is going to look like. I wonder if they're going to supply mini-blinds? Something tells me no...hmm...Eric, did yours? I'm so excited I can't stand it, I want to move in now!! Ok, moving along and to a completely different subject, everyday I check my counter stats to see who's visiting the site and lately I've gotten a lot of hits from people searching for The Sims stuff. The reason? I talked about playing in a couple of blogs! I have no information, no objects to download, nothing that would be of any use to these people, yet they keep coming! So, in light of that information, should I create a Sims page to make all of my own objects and such available? It'll be a lot of work, because I have a lot of stuff. I'm guessing Paul & I are the only ones of us that play, right? ( I'm sure the rest of you could care less about this!) Well, maybe I'll see what I can come up with this weekend while Jeff's playing with the iMac. And no, that's not the new one, he's trying to install OS X on a co-workers and it's not cooperating very well. He was at this guy's house last night for 3 hours working on it. Of course, the majority of the time was spent waiting on the update installers to download. Ahh, it's so nice to have cable...I hope they make it available in our new place right away. No more modems! No more modems! Come on everyone, chant with me! No more modems! Oh, umm..ok, nevermind. Well, I guess I'll go eat some breakfast and find something to do until Jeff wakes up. Maybe, if you're really lucky, I'll blog again tomorrow! hehehhe Posted by Olivia at 12:05 PM | Comments (4) Find me in: Chit Chat March 9, 2002Computer parts?

You're all happy-bubbly, highly optimistic, and disgustingly sweet. Airhead? Maybe, considering you contain about 80% air. I'm definitely NOT disgustingly sweet! I protest! Demand a recount! Has anyone ever had an Aero bar? Do they even still make them? Hmp. Weird. You know, I was going to leave this entry at that since I don't have much to say, but I don't have anything else to do, so why not? This has been one of those weeks I'd rather start over again. It's not that it's been terribly rough or busy, I've just felt drained all week. I can't seem to get enough sleep, I'm frustrated with work, with my car, worried about the house. Just too much to think about. I won't bore you with all the details, I'll just leave it at that I need a break, some time to completely relax and not have to worry about anything! Yeh right!! Yes Brian, I know I'm supposed to be able to do that this weekend, but I'll still have things on my mind. I hope the weather's nice so we can be outside; I would love to picnic in the park. (As long as the bugs stay out of my way!) Oh, and Matt, if you read this, email me again. I tried writing back, but the address wasn't valid. See what home.com has changed their customers accounts to. Or, just get a yahoo account. :) I guess that's all for now. I'm going to go eat a cookie and try to work this knot out of my head. (That's what happens when you scowl or have that worried look for too long.) Have a great night and don't forget NBC's Must See TV Thursday!!! Sorry for not actually writing anything in a while, I just haven't had time at work and I don't spend much time at home on the computer anymore. Like Jeff said, I got my car back last Wednesday, but halfway home the check engine light came on. So we took it back Thursday morning, and amazingly enough, were able to get it that evening. Everything seems to be ok with it. The only problem I've found is that the transmission is very sluggish, especially when first starting the car. It's a used one, which probably explains everything. I really don't want to be afraid to pull out into traffic for the rest of my life. (Not that I'll have the car that long) So, we'll drive it for a week and if it doesn't improve, I guess I'll have to call my insurance company back to see what we can do. For those of you interested, here's the final "receipt" showing what was done, and how much it ended up costing. And now I'm off to fight, I mean work with, Frontpage, to fix this terrible, I mean wonderful, intranet site. Yay me. Ahh..another year older. This is officially my last year of birthdays. I'm not having any more, I'm not going to get any older. Nope, nope, nope!! Posted by Olivia at 10:45 AM | Comments (4) Find me in: All About Me March 25, 2002A new JSR employee
Wow, I really haven't been blogging much lately! I was fixing up the archives page when I noticed how few entries I've done in March. Oh well, I guess that's saying something about my life, hmmm...? Maybe I need a little change in my life. Well, I do have one change; not a big one though. JSR finally decided to hire me full time. I've been temping there just over a year now. An accounts payable position opened up, so here I am. Since I started here last March I've worked in almost all the departments within accounting, so this isn't such a big change. Instead of collecting money, I'll be paying bills. Yay me. I guess the best part is that I now have my foot in the door to other state jobs, and I have benefits like paid holidays. That should be really nice. So anyways, on to more exciting things. Umm... Hmmm... Weeell...yeeehh...I guess that's about it. Oh yeh, I'm eating ice cream cake. Posted by Olivia at 10:46 PM | Comments (5) Find me in: Working Girl Blues March 29, 2002Week 1 almost down
Well, today will end my first week as a state employee. What do I think so far? Hard to say. Between me filling out paperwork, attending the Benefits Fair, and trying to juggle schedules, my co-worker and I haven't had much time to sit down together and "train" me. One thing I do know...this place pushes so much paper! But I guess you'll get that at just about any company. A problem I think my co-worker and I are going to encounter is that I'm much more digitally focused whereas she'd rather use paper. For EVERYTHING! Oh well, once I get my bearings straight I can do things the way I want. But until then, I have to keep things the way they are so she'll be able to do what I haven't learned yet. But enough about that. Since me taking this fulltime job leaves the business office down 2 people (one was recently "laid off"), I have offered my "services" after normal hours (with overtime pay!) to help out and keep the papers pushed. :) So needless to say, I have been staying at work until about 6 every night. And I'm still behind! That's the way it goes, I suppose. Today is such a beautiful day, I wish I could leave early to be outside and enjoy it. I'm hoping tomorow will be like this for at least part of the day. I want to go walk down by the river, and jump on the rocks (without twisting my ankle please). But alas, it will probably rain this weekend. Again. Everyone give a big "boooo" to Jeff for having the day off. :) Nah, just kidding. Poor guy, he's been running so hard lately, he definitely needs, and deserves, this day off. Too bad he'll probably spend it inside on the computer anyway! heheheh So I guess I better get back to work...umm..hmm...don't really have much work. And there's nobody here today. Seriously, there are 5 (out of 12) of us in the office right now. And 3 of them will leave before 5. Craziness. Next week will be the same way. Ahh...spring! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I wish good weather on us all! Posted by Olivia at 1:34 PM | Comments (1) Find me in: Working Girl Blues March 29, 2002A very Brady kid
