While Jeff was recovering from a nasty bout of food poisoning on July 4th, I got the study prepped and ready to be painted. Three of the 4 walls are a solid blue, but the fourth, and longest, we decided to be bold with and attempt stripes. I was inspired by a pillow I found at Pier 1 a couple years ago and really wanted to try something different.

We ended up using the same tan in our living room as the base paint for the wall, then painted the dark brown and blue stripes on top of it. The end result turned out slightly different than either of us had imagined, but I think we're pretty happy with it.

It took us over a week to finally get all the painting done. After Jeff finished napping on the 4th he helped me finish up the blue and tan walls. The next weekend we marked off the stripes and painted the blue one day, the brown the next. It was definitely a long process. I have some more pictures, I just need to get them uploaded.

Sticking with tradition we traveled north to watch the fireworks at Kings Dominion. This time a fireworks stand had set up shop in the truck stop parking lot so there were kids all over the place throwing down poppers and waving sparklers around. We also saw 2 fender benders in the intersection. Great fun!

Oh, and yes, Jeff (and co.) did get over the food poisoning, but it took almost a week!
