January 23, 2004Tech support, how can I help you?

I'm so tired of being the "computer guru" in the office. Everyone comes to me with problems. Usually it's not a big deal, I don't mind helping, but man, when will people learn stuff for themselves?

A big thank you goes out to all those tech support people who deal with this everyday!

An extra special thanks to Jeff for putting up with all my questions!

I've recently become the "go to" person for my division for technical stuff, too, and I know what you mean. I trained this new guy on how to use our applications, typed up a "quick and dirty" reference sheet for each application, and he still calls me all the time asking about something that I clearly spelled out earlier (verbally AND on paper).

Everytime someone calls here and asks me a question about x, y or z, I just simply say, "I don't know." Very simple. .....or I just don't answer the phone at all. Hmmm..... I should really try to remember the password to my voicemail too. Eh, screw it..... I'm going back to playing my video games.....
