June 21, 2003Molokini bound
Oh look, an early rise once again. This time to be at the docks for our boat tour with Pacific Whale Foundation. We went out to Molokini, a half-crater excellent for snorkeling. After and hour we packed the boat up and headed towards Lana'i, a smaller island near Maui. Another hour or so of snorkeling before beginning the trek back. Overall the trip was pretty good. Much of it was very turbulent due to the waves, but we had fun nonetheless. Mrs P unfortunately ended up with the majority of the seasickness, but at least none of us tossed our cookies.
I heard the snorkeling was pretty awesome. I got out in the water at Molokini, but never did any looking around. Way too freaky. Maybe Hanuama Bay will be better. (I hope) I did get to watch some fish from on the boat, and we saw turtles in the harbor on the way back in. We docked about 3pm which gave us just barely enough time to get back and shower before the luau. The luau was at the Mariott hotel not too far from us. The show was wonderful and the food delicious. Except for the hot late afternoon sun, it was a great evening. And now I'm going to go to bed and try to sleep despite the residual rocking feeling we all have from being on a boat for 6 hours. Tomorrow, Oahu.
