November 18, 2002Glittery dresses

If there was ever a day I didn't feel like working it would be today. I have no motivation to actually work. I still think we need to petition for 3 day weekends/4 day work weeks. I guess I do have the option to work four 10 hour days if I wanted to have an extra day off. But that would mean getting up earlier...nah.

Seems like Jeff and I are the only slackers when it comes to blogging about this weekend. I have to be inspired (or really bored) to write.

I had a great time this weekend. I was a little apprehensive about being alone all weekend; it was the first time I'd been in the house by myself. As it turns out, I was gone all Saturday, so I didn't really have time to think about being alone.

After the boys left on Friday I sat around a watched TV (a lot of MTV) for most of the night. Knowing I had to get up earlier to meet Lauren and the girls, I tried to go to bed at a decent hour. Yeh, that didn't happen. I met Lauren, Kelly and Natalie at 9:45 and we headed south to pick up her mom and grandmother. After what seemed to be an endless ride we got to Farmville.

Farmville reminded me a lot of Blacksburg (not that I spent much time there). The shop Lauren found her dress at is a ladies clothing store that also sells formal/prom and wedding dresses. It was the kind of store where you don't actually get to look at the things on the rack, you describe a style and the 'consultant' brings different pieces to you. I'd never done that before; very weird.

Lauren showed us her dress, but since she didn't have all the accessories with her didn't get measured for length. Then we started looking at bridesmaids dresses. Lucky me got to be the model and try everything on. This store is the kind that only carries one dress of each style in one or two sizes that's determined by the manufacturer. When a person decides on a particular dress an order is placed for all the sizes that are needed.

After trying on 3 or 4 and debating on which color to go with, Lauren decided she liked the glittery one, and we all liked the 2 pieces. And oh look, there just happened to be one that fit! Amazing! Here's a link that Lauren posted on her site. Lauren's mom also found a dress she might get.

On the way back to Richmond we decided to go see 8 Mile that evening. Although it wasn't a movie I had been planning on seeing, I did enjoy it. I'd had no idea the story line so on the way to the theater Natalie filled me in. We met up with Kelly, John and Branda and after the movie, stopped at O'Charley's for some dinner.

By the time I got home it was about midnight. Poor Gizmo; he was slightly upset at me. Sunday I was woken by the phone; I really hate that. Especially when the people hang up before you answer. I ended up doing laundry and cleaning up while watching the race. Go Tony! Yay! (For all you non-Nascar fans out there, Tony Stewart [#20] won the championship).

I guess that's a wrap. Sorry for another long entry. I really just write these for myself, I don't expect many of you to still be reading this right now. Heelloo? Anybody out there?? Helloo??

Damn, and I read the whole thing too! Not long enough!! :)

How 'bout that sex scene in 8 Mile! Woo hoo!

I wasn't really hip on the sex scene. I'm not really into the dirty casual sex where saliva is your lubricant and you bitch at the person post-coitus. And of course, no protection, which I guess doesn't matter if you're both probably disease-ridden anyway.

Just found your site today, I was in band with you at Tabb. I played Tuba and I dated Roberta Fox. I've lost touch with most of our classmates but I have not heard of any class of 96 reunions yet. I live in Austin, Texas now so drop me an e-mail if you want. Nice site!
