November 25, 2002They got here too early!First of all I want to give a big shout-out and thanks to Brian for filling in for me on Friday. That's right folks, I said shout-out. And I also said Brian filled in for me. Nope, that wasn't me. Did anybody have any clue? Didn't think so. :) So I called my mom on Friday to see what the plan was for Thanksgiving. I knew they were heading east, to SC to see my grandparents, but we had discussed the possibility that they come to Richmond for a few days first. When I hadn't heard anything by Friday I figured they probably weren't. I was wrong. 3:30 on Friday I find out they're going to be here on Sunday. Ack!! Jeff and I had plans to go to Charlottesville to pick up the rest of our furniture and continue on to Bridgewater to get Jeff's stock wheels and some tires. That left me with Sunday to clean the house. I left early Friday to get a head start, but didn't get too far. We had to run a few errands and as we were leaving, Mike called. We ended up doing the double date thing with him and Lauren. Drove all the way to southside for some yummy Unos. After sleeping in a little later than we should have on Saturday we got on the road to Charlottesville. We ended up with the already purchased dresser, a new file cabinet and new bookshelf. Oops! Afraid we weren't going to have room for the wheels and tires we forged ahead anyway. Jeff managed to pack it all in the truck. My knees were in the dash, but we made it :) A brief visit with the Pollards and we were back on the road again. A late dinner at Arby's (along with a mass of middle schoolers) and we were ready to put together some furniture. By 2:30 we had the bookcase and file cabinet together and were ready to drop! Sunday was a whirlwind of cleaning, moving and unpacking boxed, removing and hanging towel bars and toilet paper holders, etc. Jeff made a shelf for the computer room closet then we tackled the dresser. By 6 we had the shell of it complete (non of the drawers), but decided to stop and get cleaned up and finish cleaning the house. Little did I know, my parents had just pulled up. Doh! So there we were with an undusted and unvacuumed house. Sigh...we tried. Dinner at Outback and then we finished the drawers. I'll have to get a picture of it later. I'm going to leave work early today so I can either spend some time with my parents or if they've already entertained themselves, finish cleaning up the house! I'm tired of picking up carpet fibers and wood pieces on my socks. Jeff is going to grace my family with his presence over our Thanksgiving holiday. I guess I'll have to return the favor sometime. Maybe one day our families will live close enough so we don't have to choose who to spend the entire holiday with. If mine ever decided to leave the boonies of Arkansas...:)

Mike and I have the same issue--since we live in Virginia all the time, when we get the opportunity to see his family we usually do it. I figure even though it's difficult not to get to see my family so much during the holidays, I just keep in mind that he doesn't get to see his family often at all. Have a great T-Day! Posted by: Lolo on November 25, 2002 8:55 PMI think my parents would pass out if I ever cleaned up just for them. :) A shout-out! How cool! Thanks, Olivia!! Stay warm, you Virginians! hehe :) Posted by: basking in the Orlando sun on November 25, 2002 9:09 PMPost a comment
