January 7, 2003MacWorld SF 20031:30PM Once again, here I sit, watching the MacWorld keynote speech. (Started at noon) I've run out of work I can do without having to get up (to use the copier or fax) so Brian suggested I pretend to be working by typing a blog or something. So here I am! Oh wait...looks like they're getting ready to introduce new hardware..hang on... Ok, this is just about the sales..so anyway.. Updates to all the i apps have already been shown. Apple made their own browser, Safari, looks pretty cool. Pretty neat stuff. Maybe one of these days I'll make time to play with my pictures and make some cool videos. Oh, back to the...ooo...17in screen powerbook; 6.8lbs; 1440 x 900...nice...and thinner than mine. Hmm...automatic keyboard backlighting when it gets dark. Very cool. $3299 Right..gotta look busy..if I just type random stuff, will people think I'm working? To be honest, my job doesn't involved that much compter use, especially typing. But I've changed all that. All paper spreadsheets have now been put in Excel. Oh, more stuff.. 1:50PM Here comes the "one more thing" moment.. 12in powerbook; 4.6lbs; 5 hour battery. Wow, that's so tiny. It's a MiniMe for the Titanium! Cute! Is it going to replace the iBook?? Hmm..no, I don't think so. $1799. Hmm..looks like that might be about it. I'll get some links up when it's all over.

Oh man...the new commercial for the powerbooks, that's so funny! Remember what I said about MiniMe? I was right! Maybe Jeff will share it later.. Posted by: Olivia on January 7, 2003 2:11 PMWow..what a flurry of excitement this afternoon! I'm actually USING Safari right now and lem me tell ya: it's QUICK! Even more exciting? Brian's new site finally displays the page semi-correctly. Amazing. Now, to get my hands on one of thjose 17" PowerBook G4s. I LOVE the new keyboard light feature. Drooling yet, Mike? Posted by: Jeff on January 7, 2003 5:05 PMIf I were Mike, I'd be a little upset that I didn't jump the idea out to the market. :) Oh well. If I were Mike, i wouldn't be reading blogs anyhow, so I'd never see this message. :) Posted by: Big B on January 7, 2003 7:21 PMI told Mike about it, but he was playing Soldier of Fortune so he didn't hear me. On behalf of him, though, "I wish I would have kicked my ass in gear and made some money off that idea." There you have it. Posted by: On Behalf of Mike on January 7, 2003 9:49 PMWhat's this Soldier of Fortune you all are talking about? I've never heard Mike mention anything about it before. :) Posted by: Top on January 7, 2003 10:01 PMIf only they were cheaper then I would cross over to the mac world in a heart beat. I'm still drooling over that 23 inch HD display monitor... yummm... Posted by: Paul on January 8, 2003 9:53 AMYet again, Apple does some amazing engineering but falls short by 1 foot of getting my business. For those of you that dont know, I am in the market for a laptop. I looked at these new powerbooks and thought, hmm those are nice. but No, they dont put 1600x1200 rez, they put some funky 1280xsomething . I wonder if they have seen the huge pc trend of people in my line of work moving to this rez. After all apple sells to people like me(graphic designers). I love the lighted keyboard. Never saw that coming, NOT!!! Oh, brian, EAT MY ASS!!! Looks like I found the blog. Bye. I am going back to sof2 michael Posted by: Michael on January 8, 2003 12:12 PMOk, here's one of the new ads, the MiniMe one I was talking about. Posted by: Olivia on January 8, 2003 3:51 PMThat tall chinese dude is Yao Ming. 1st ever international player that was drafted #1 in the NBA. He's 7 feet 4 tall and very agile for his height. Posted by: Paul's impression of the king of useless knowledge on January 8, 2003 7:10 PMI meant useless trivia not knowledge and oh yea, cool ad Posted by: oops on January 8, 2003 7:12 PMThanks for the link to the new Powerbook ad, Olivia.
