Olivia's World | State of the Union

I guess since everyone else has commented on the State of the Union speech, then I will too. I, in fact, did watch the entire thing. And, for the first time I actually listened to it. I was actually quite impressed with the promises Pres Bush has made; that's assuming most (if not just some) are followed through. But enough about that.

Hmm..I guess I dont have too much to say. Work has been..well, work. Nothing unusual or exciting.

Jeff and I played some Vice City last night. Actually, he was playing when I got home and I kinda took over :) The taxi missions are fun! (Except when I accidentally run over my passenger, whoops!)

We've also gotten into American Idol this season. The reality shows sure are taking over this year. I've watched American Idol, Joe Millionaire and the first round of Meet My Folks (not going to be watching that one anymore). Anyone else feel bombarded with these 'reality' series?

I had originally planned NOT to watch this season of American Idol. But after watching some of the "contestants" butcher their way through these auditions, it's like watching a car wreck. It's so bad, you just can't help but watch. So now I'm sucked back in, and I'll probably keep watching until the season is once again over. Crap.

I don't feel bombarded, but that's mainly because I stick to CSI and my DVD player. But I am definitely noticing more and more gratuitous commercials about reality shows. Are their ratings slipping?

I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a bandwagon jumper when it comes to reality series (if you've ever experienced my "Buff Style of the Week" from Survivor, you know this), but I agree that it is getting out of hand. The one where they send the "troubled" couples to an island is really stupid and now they're advertising a show where random strangers get married on TV. How stupid is that!

I (along with Mom, if you can believe it!) have gotten hooked on "The Bachelorette" this season. I have no problem checking out hunky guys and trying to decide which one Trista should choose. It's kind of a nice turning of the tables from "The Bachelor." And it's getting pretty exciting--she's down to 3 guys now that she must choose between!!
