June 20, 2003A shocker of a night on MauiAnother early morning for us as we were scheduled for an 8am flight. We were all sad to be leaving Kauai, but happy that we still had two more islands to visit. Unfortunately, our 16 minute flight had an hour layover in Honolulu. But that gave us enough time to run through the terminal in search of breakfast. It's been a while since I've been in that airport, so I didn't recognize too much. Sometime after 10am we finally arrived in Maui. After the last fiasco with the rental car, we insisted on exchanging whatever was booked to a larger vehicle. Thankfully they did have some available so we ended up with a Chevy Venture van. Much, much better than the Saturn! We weren't able to check into our rooms until after 3pm so we took a leisurely stroll through downtown Lahina. Cute town with some neat stores, but the majority were either selling art or jewelry; very strange. At 3pm we headed back up to Ka'anapoli, to the Aston Ka'anapoli Shores Resort. We had our choice of a two-bedroom suite with a garden view or 2 one-bedroom rooms beachfront. We chose beachfront of course. :) Who cares if we're only going to be here two nights? ![]() After settling in we left in search of food, but made a not-so-quick stop at the Concierge desk to plan Saturday's activities. Many of the things we had hoped to do were already full so we grabbed the last 5 seats on a snorkeling boat tour of the islands near Maui. For dinner we found ourselves back in Lahina at the Maui Bistro Brewery or Maui Brewery Bistro, whichever way it went. Very good. Since we ate early, it wasn't busy so service was excellent. And the food was good too; especially the strawberry daiquiri. And the nachos. And the rolls. And the..well, ok, the whole thing was good :) After dinner we went our separate ways. It had been a long day, but neither of us were ready for bed so we decided to check out the night scene on the beach. After answering yes to a very important question, we hit the hay.
